RETURN TO BORREGO SPRINGS - DECEMBER 2 & 3
We had a very nice tournament in Soboba Springs in November. We had 29 players in the tournament which was lower than usual. The weather was wonderful, we had 6 tennis courts available most of the time and Saturday night dinner was delicious. However we did miss having a clubhouse where we could gather for cards, our potluck, etc. Thanks to the efforts of Pete Azar we now have an opportunity to return to Borrego Springs. We will be paying $925 per tournament if we commit to having the next 5 tournaments there. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to return to Borrego for our December tournament. We will no longer be able to camp behind the tennis center. Those who have RVs will need to make reservations at Palm Canyon Resort across the street, stay at Anza-Borrego state park or make other arrangements. Our December tournament will be held on December 2 & 3, 2000 and will be mens doubles and ladies doubles. We encourage all of you who are able to come to attend this tournament since we need a strong participation to ensure the future of our club!
If you are interested in camping at Palm Canyon Resort RV Park, the phone number there is 1-800-242-0044 or 760-767-5341. We have a group site reserved for the weekend of December 2 & 3. Mention that you are a member of Borrego Springs Tennis Club and they will give you reservations in the group site at $21 per night.
BSTC DUES
Last season we voted to increase our dues from $50 to $75 per person in order to cover our costs for the new season. We need to pay for the tennis facility each tournament plus our other expenses for balls, printing, mailing, supplies, prizes, etc. We will no longer have the income from the camping fees, so we are totally dependent on the income from dues and tournament fees. Tournament fees will remain at $10 per person. Please pay your dues as soon as possible either at the next tournament or mail them to Fred Wantland. Make out your check to Borrego Springs Tennis Club and bring it to Borrego or mail it to:
