TRIP TO OLD BORREGOHarriet Schultz and Betty Minkel have suggested a trip to the site of Old Borrego on Friday morning before the tournament. If you are interested in going on this trip, be at the Tennis Center in Borrego on Friday morning, Jan 11, at 10:00 A.M. Harriet and Betty will share a little history of Borrego Springs with you.
Also along those lines, on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 3:00 P.M., there will be a speaker who will retell the story of Marshal and Tanya South and their life atop Ghost Mountain more than 50 years ago. The writers, who raised a family on the mountain above Blair Valley, spent more than a decade living off the land like the local Indians. There is no charge for the talk by naturalist Deborah Sperberg. It will be held at the Anza Borrego Desert Natural History Association Nature Center, 652 Palm Canyon Dr. in Borrego Springs. Sof if you're not playing tennis at that time and would like to learn a little more about the Borrego area, you might be interested in this speaker.
