FEBRUARY TOURNAMENT
The February Tournament will be held February 16 & 17, 2002. It will be Mens Doubles and Ladies Doubles. If you are planning to play, please sign up by Friday, February 15 at 7:30 P.M. at the clubhouse in Borrego Springs. You may also sign up by phoning Gary Edwards at home at

FEBRUARY HIKE TO GHOST MOUNTAIN
If you are interested in taking a hike to the Marshal South Home (Ghost Mountain) in Blair Valley, plan to meet at the Borrego Springs Tennis Club parking lot on Friday, February 15 at 8:00 A.M. Marshal South and his wife Tanya built a remote adobe home atop the mountain which they called Yaquitepec. They lived there for more than a decade, raising 3 children and taking care of many of their needs from the surrounding desert. A steep trail leads one mile up the mountain to the remains of the homesite and a panoramic view. Ghost Mountain is 31 miles from the Visitor Center. If you would like to join us on this hike, it is suggested that you wear good walking shoes and bring water.
SAN CLEMENTE CAMPOUT
Our group usually has a campout at San Clemente State Beach in September. Since the California State Park System will start taking reservations on March 1 for September, wed like to think about possible dates for our September campout. Suggested dates are September 19 or September 26 for 4 nights. Please check your calendars and think about these dates we will vote at the February Tournament & decide on the preferred dates. The phone number for state park reservations is 1-800-444-7275. Be sure to ask for the hook-up area and for senior rates if you qualify (62+).
TRIP TO LAUGHLIN IN APRIL
At the January tournament we talked about possible going on a trip to Mesquite, Nevada in April. However, we have discovered that the Oasis Hotel in Mesquite does not have adequate tennis courts for our use. They only have one tennis court. So how about going to Laughlin, Nevada instead. We have gone there in the past and stayed at the Flamingo Laughlin. The Flamingo has 3 tennis courts, a nice pool and a large hotel. Depending on availability and night of the week, rates range from $25 to $59 per night. Think about it, check your calendars and we can discuss it at the February tournament. Suggested dates might be April 4-8 or April 11-15 since those dates are between the March tournament on March 23 & 24 and the April tournament on April 27 & 28.

Jackies recipe for Broccoli/Cheese Casserole
| 2 (16 oz.) bags frozen chopped broccoli | 1 1 ½ rolls Ritz crackers (crushed)

| 1 (16 oz.) box Velveeta cheese | 2 sticks butter
|
Cook broccoli until firm (not mushy) & set aside. Slice butter cubes & line bottom of 9x 13 casserole dish. Slice Velveeta cheese the same way and line on top of butter. Place broccoli on top of cheese. Sprinkle crushed Ritz crackers over broccoli. Bake 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees until brown & bubbly.
