The next tournament will be the weekend of January 17 - 18, 200. This is in the season, so getting reservations may be wise. If you are planning to play, you must sign up by 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 16th. Signup at clubhouse, or contact Gary Edwards: phone 619-390-8412, e-mail: garyre@cox.net, cel: 619-992-8412. The draw will be completed by 9:00 P.M. and play will begin on Saturday at 8:00 A.M. Please remember to share and consume at the goody bar on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

GOODY BAR AND POTLUCK

As usual, the potluck will occur Saturday: happy hour is at 6:30 p.m., and dinner will be at 7 p.m. If you want to contribute to the door prizes, remember to place them in the door prize area before dinner.

TOURNAMENT NEWS

The McClures did a great job of emcee-ing the potluck. The food was excellent, as usual. The weather was great. The winners of the Owls challenged the winners of the Eagles after the tournament, but lost 6-2, 6-4. Pretty close, so the divisions aren't that far apart! Bonnie Wilson won the $50 drawing. Congratulations, Bonnie!

BORREGO NEWS

Borrego got some rain on December 25th. Good news for the wildflower season!

T-SHIRTS

The new shirts are available for sale for $10.00 each and can be purchased at each tournament. Don Wilson has done a great job for the club by obtaining a 2 year supply of high quality embroidered BSTC shirts of various types.

DECEMBER HIKE

Peggy and Jef were the only ones to show up. They hiked up the old California Riding and Hiking Trail, intercepted the new one, and finished up at the Hellhole trailhead. This was a 2 mile, 1.3 hour hike that rose over 500'.

RECYCLED E-MAIL JOKE circulated by Yezen 9-25-2001

...found in the Obituary section:

It is with the saddest heart that I pass on the following news. Please join me in remembering a great icon - the veteran Pillsbury Spokesman. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours.

Long time friend Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man, and was considered a roll model for millions. Toward the end it was thought he would rise again, but alas, he was no tart.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about twenty minutes.
