RESULTS OF JANUARY TOURNAMENT The January tournament was a team tennis tournament. There were 2 men and 2 ladies on each of 10 teams with a few people playing with two partners and some substitutions. We played 2 mixed doubles sets followed by a straight doubles set to complete a match. It was double elimination as usual with teams instead of individuals. The results were as follows.

FEBRUARY TOURNAMENT

Our February tournament will be held on February 13 & 14. The tournament will be ladies’ doubles and men’s doubles, so come out and join us for a great Valentine’s Day tournament. Please sign up by Friday night in the clubhouse or call Gary Edwards on Friday after 5P.M. at (619)992-8412. The draw will be held about 9:00 P.M. and play will start Saturday morning at 8:00 A.M. February is usually beautiful in Borrego, so we hope to see many of you there!

JANUARY & FEBRUARY HIKES

The January trip was to the Borrego Badlands to see the sunset. However, our group encountered two young ladies who were stranded with their pickup stuck in the sand and our gallant BSTC men rescued them by pushing their truck! So we missed the sunset, but performed a good deed! The February trip will depend on weather, etc. If you are interested in joining us on the hike, please meet at the RV parking area behind the tennis center on Friday morning, Feb 12, at 8:00 A.M.

BSTC THANK YOU

Borrego Springs Tennis Club would like to give a big, heartfelt THANK YOU to Ken Shallahamer for replacing the signs marking the individual tennis courts with their appropriate numbers. Thank you Ken – the new signs are beautiful!

REPORT FROM BSTC BOARD

Fred Wantland reported that our treasury is in good condition. We have a balance of $7600 in the treasury and expect to pay out $4400 for our rent of the tennis center the rest of the season. John Schultz has been taking photos for a BSTC directory and asked the members for information for bios for this directory. John Schultz also announced that we plan to have a BSTC tournament in Fullerton in May as we did a couple of years ago. The exact date will be announced later.
