| Late in the year, I shifted work to a new CES product, the TRP 700. In conjunction with purchasing a software company in Alabama, Ameromatic, this would be a self-contained system, rather than just a terminal connected to a mainframe.

Warm summer in the DC area, with highs around 100°F, and high humidity. Our CES co-ed softball team won its first game after 12 losses. We beat National Geographic! We won the last game, too, to finish 2-12. |
In July, replied to NMT professor, Gerry Gross, who had wrote a letter regarding finishing up the paper he was writing based on my curve fitting of his data. When this paper was published, I got credit as a co-author. |
On most weekends, I rode the subway from Silver Spring to various places in the DC area, usually the mall to see all the museums and monuments. I once rode all the way to Chevy Chase, and saw War Games. | |||||

In April, made a number of trips to Huntsville MD to work with General Instruments on a transaction processing machine we were customizing for them. Spent most of this year doing software for this GI transaction processing terminal that scanned and audit printed several types of documents (bills and checks).  One of the test documents
| Also in April, mom came and picked up my old Datsun 510, which Julie had given me a few years back. I gave her a tour of the place while she was in town. She even came to our first co-ed softball practice. In May, continued the co-ed softball season, losing all month.  Carol, Jim

In February, Julie sold my trailer, and I could stop paying rent at the trailer park in Socorro. Got some furniture for apartment.  One of the tables I got and assembled
| In March, I bought my first new car: Li'l red.  Truck parked in front of apartment(on 2nd floor) to the left
| Also in March, bought a big screen TV (gave to Julie in 1983).  Took excursions into DC. Here is pic of me & my camera(in reflexion) at Natl. Art Museum | |||||
