Hiked up to Laura Peak on the 15th.

Aug 1996

House-sat for Hank and Linda in Temecula for a few days, from about the 12th. I had to buy a power cord to use his computer for some reason on the 12th.

Took Lisa kayaking in Mission Bay. We did the Southwest Kayak evening paddle out to the mouth of the bay. SW Kayak seems to have disappeared since.

Jul 1996

Went on a 3 day car camping trip to Ouray CO with Dyer, Janis, Julie (Janis's daughter), and one of Dyer's co-workers.

We rented mountain bikes and drove into downtown Ouray, went on a couple of hikes, and saw the 4th of July festivities in Ouray.

Hiked up to Laura Peak on the 10th.

May 1996

Went to Las Vegas with Craig and Don. Craig had free rooms at the Stardust.

Went on a couple cinema rides at the Excalibur. That was all I could take!

Purchased aluminum siding for my project to cover my eves.

Hiked up to Laura Peak, elevation 1500', and placed a register there on the 8th: 6 miles, 900' vertical, 3 hours.

Went on a 12 mile one way hike with Craig from Trout Pond by Lake Cuyamaca, and hitting Cuyamaca Peak, Jamacha Peak, and ending at Cold Spring.

I bought us dinner at the lake after the hike.

Apr 1996

On the 7th, climbed Granite Mountain: 6.5 miles, 3200' vertical, 7 hours.

Went up to Mojave cannon party on 14th.

Mar 1996

On the 2nd, hiked to Blue Angel Peak, crossing briefly into Mexico: 5 miles, 1300' vertical, 3 hours.

Also on the 2nd, explored the Myer Wash area, after parking on an unused snippet of highway 80: 4 miles, 1000' vertical, 3 hours.

Chanced into rare hiker near the peak and got him to take my pic

Indianhead hike is about 8 miles, 3200' vertical, 7 hours.

On the 23rd, did a loop hike up Arroyo Tapiado to Arroyo Seco del Diablo: 16.5 miles, 600' vertical, 8 hours.

On the 27th, went skiing with Craig and Greg at Snow Summit.

On the 31st, climbed Rabbit Peak, a 20 mile, 8300' vertical, 14 hour hike, on the 31st.

On the 4th, hiked a loop going up Bighorn Canyon from Nolina Wash, hitting Blue Spring, and topping out at Pinyon Peak. Descended down Pinyon Wash, discovering old dam just before entering Harper Flat: 14 miles, 3100' vertical, 10 hours.

On the 6th, climbed Lizard Peak for first time, took longer way: 4 miles, 1500' vertical, 3 hours.

On the 8th, hiked Flatcat Canyon up to palms: 5.5 miles, 1800' vertical, 5 hours.

On the 11th, hiked Alma Wash up to Starfish Cove, where I placed my first register: 10 miles, 1600' vertical, 7 hours.

On the 19th, hiked up to Rattlesnake Spring: 8.5 miles, 2500' vertical, 7 hours.

Did the Wonderstone Wash hike in near freezing drizzly weather. This hike passed the Moly Mine, sheep tanks in Smoketree Wash, and peaked at Pyramid Peak. Went a couple miles down Wonderstone Wash. This hike had great views of the Salton Sea: 12 miles, 3000' vertical, 12 hours.

On the 28th, skied with Craig, Greg and Torrey at Mountain High.

Jan 1996

On the 25th, climbed San Ysidro Mountain: 8 miles, 4400' vertical, 8 hours. Snow was at the top!
