THE FOLLOWING IS ADOPTED FROM THE BUREAU OF NAVAL PERSONNEL MANUAL.

1. All vessels shall proceed to the burial site in a formation, following the Vessel of Honor (USCGA Vessel Leviathan) in a 'N" formation at a pace not to exceed that of the slowest vessel in the procession.

2. Once at the burial site, all vessels are to remain in the close proximity of the Vessel of Honor, but are to rernain aft of the Vessel of Honor. (If weather and conditions permit, a circle may be formed aft of the Vessel of Honor).

3. All vessels should be stopped heading into the wind. If necessary, for safety and convenience of the scattering of ashes, they 'flay rernain at dead slow ahead.

4. At the command, "All hands bury the dead", all vessels should stop and the National Ensign be dipped to half-staff (if possible).

5. At the end of the ceremony, flowers may be placed upon the sea. (Only flower buflons, petals or unwired wreaths 'flay be placed on the sea as per environmental regulations).

6. At this time, you may proceed back to your home port at your leisure, no formal pattern of return is required.

EIGHT BELLS TOLLED ON THE SHIPS BELL

P0: The tolling of eight bells on the ships bell, signifies the traditional "Change of Watch" aboard ship. Virginia Light has just completed her tour of duty, and has stood her watch with distinction and honor. She is flow relieved of her tour of duty to rest with her skipper and heavenly host of Angels.

SCRIPTURE

P0: I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord: he that believeth in me, shall not perish. …….. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in danger. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth changes and the mountains are shaken into the sea. For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide, even unto death.

P0: Unto Almighty God, we commend the soul of our sister departed, and we commit her body to the deep, [open the container and scatter the ashes over the surface of the sea] in sure and certain hope of the resurrection unto eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

BENEDICTION P0: The Lord Bless thee and keep thee, The Lord make his face to shine down upon thee, and be gracious unto thee, the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon thee and give theepeace. Amen
