| We arrived in Vegas around midnight. Temperature at midnight was 109°F!!! After failing to get a room at Flamingo and just getting on freeway going north at midnight in Vegas, Kathy called 411 for a hotel she saw nearby, The Platinum, and found they had rooms, so we turned around and checked in. The room was only $130/night on a weekend, which we found to be a real bargain! This was an unbelievably plush hotel with NO CASINO!!! After waking up the next morning(the 18th), Jef took most of these pix with Stacey's camera. The girls checked out the pool on this day. We had lunch at the hotel. We had some rain when we took shuttle to the Rio that afternoon. We walked across the street and saw "The Hangover" at the cineplex there. After returning to the shuttle dropoff point (the Flamingo), we walked around the strip. We viewed some of the sights at Caesar's Palace and wound up having dinner at Planet Hollywood before returning to our room. The next day, the girls dragged Jef down to the pool, which was pretty plush, the next day. It had lots of comfy places to sit or lie. The pool was half outside in the hot muggy weather and half inside the air-conditoned locker area. We were chased out after an hour or so, due to thunderstorms threatening.
