1Q'24 Jef and Kathy's Activities 2Q 2024 3Q'24
Jun 2024

On the 1st, Jef drove Kathy to MD in Escondido and did some shopping on the way home. We then visited Steph and John, having a margarita before heading to Carmelitas where we had some dinner.

Kathy in Steph & John's back yard - she saw a Starlink train of satellites, but when we came out to see, they were already gone

Talked in back yard for a while before heading home

On the 2nd, Jef did some chores - including cleaning & filling pool & fixing garage door. Holley & Alvero came by to celebrate Holley's upcoming birthday. Kathy bar-b-qued chicken & we had a dinner with that, rice and salad before bringing out the birthday cake Kathy had just made. During this time(it was later found out) 2 problems were found with the mini-splits: 1) a pump had failed and made a loud racquet that could only be turned off by shutting off breaker to all mini-splits, and 2) one of the units was leaking. Kids left after sun disappeared behind the mountains.

On the 3rd, back to work a medium busy day at the office. Locke repairment came out to diagnose mini-split problems, so Jef came over & stayed for his session. He fixed the leaky problem in our bedroom unit, and determined kitchen unit had a defective pump.

Kathy tried filling hot tub, but forgot & caused a lake on back patio

On the 4th, back to work what was to be a long busy day, but turned out to be a shorter easy day due to cancellations.

On the 5th, Visited Pam & Jaime, for a short belated anniversary party - with Pam's pineapple upside down cake. Then Jef drove to Ramona for a quick shopping trip. Stopped at PCT trailhead and walked about half a mile - limited by strained left piriformis.

We will eventually be in this pool at 1st pool party of the season

On the 6th, back to work a fairly easy day(with lots of cancellations/no shows). Temperature was reached about 110F.

Rob claimed to have cut down this tree, but the branches and a big stump still remain - Jef tried to cut this with his little chainsaw, but gave up, as it will take several charges to complete this task

On the 7th, another fairly easy day at the office, but Jef was limping pretty bad, so Kathy bestowed a cane on him.

On the 8th, took it easy around the house, as Jef was pretty much a cripple. Kathy came down with a virus & also had to lay low at home, as she was not feeling well.

On the 9th, another take it easy day at home with Jef hobbling around and Kathy still sick with virus.

Sunset this evening

On the 10th, Jef went to see Sylvia to get some chiropractic help, and she also referred Jef to Kathy for some PT. Jef cancelled a busy day at the office, as Kathy was still sick, but no longer had a sore throat. Jef did some work at the office.

Panorama on Sylvia's deck as I waited for my appointment

On the 11th, Jef cancelled another day at the office, as Kathy was not yet ready to come in, but Jef did some work at the office.

This tiny moth was on our kitchen door

On the 12th, Kathy did some chores at home as she was feeling better. Jef mostly did nothing at home. It was a big chore to take the trash out this morning - Jef had to do one trash container at a time, as he had a cane in the other hand.

On the 13th, back to work a medium busy day at the office. Kathy & Jef were both tired, but Jef got tortured by Kathy, but barely survived.

On the 14th, Jef's leg was much better from PT, so forgot to use cane most of the day which was a moderately busy day at the office.

On the 30th, layed low at home as Jef's right low back was starting to ache (Kathy had spent prior 2 weeks fixing the left side). We did go in pool, but Kathy cut it short talking politics with Kym and complaining the pool is still not clean enuff.

Jef started walking to office & took this pic of a field of gilias

At this point, walking on newly resurfaced Tilting T, Jef got a call to abort hike, come home and dig holes for Kathy's plants - total walk was only about 1 mile

On the 8th, on a windy morning Jef tested the jacuzzis and found they were not warm enough. We packed up and left, but Jef took a shower and wound up leaving his wedding band in the bathroom and not realizing it until much later. We drove to Joyce's and had a nice sushi meal with the Morgans before doing some shopping. We found out Winco only took cash, so did the balance of our shopping at Vallarta Market. We then drove home.

On the 11th, took it easy all day at home waiting for the delivery, which occurred in the late afternoon. We thanked Mary Ana and Jef got back his wedding thing - gave her a sizeable reward before she left.

on the 19th, Jef finished removing about 99% of the gunk at the bottom of the pool. Grandma Kathy did a 70 minute facetime call for Eli's present opening, talking to Stacey & kids, seeing their new doggy, Lola, and the mother's day gift she got from us, a bonzai gardenia. Jef then walked to the office in 58 minutes.

On the 4th, Kathy spent most of the day in bed. Jef got blood test for physical, stopped by Sewanee house, and walked to the office(67 minutes) and back the easy way(43.5 minutes) - still quickly fatigueing, especially going uphill.

On the 17th, took Kathy to MD appt in RB, but avoided road construction on Montezuma by taking Scissors Xing - but Kathy was getting carsick & kicked herself for not having 7Up in the car, so we stopped at Dons & got a couple cans of Sprite. We then dropped off Kathy's violin to be repaired, shopped at TJs & drove up to RB for MD appt. Then we headed straight home to Borrego.

Nearly all beavertail are bloomed out in our front yard

On the 18th, back to work for an exceedingly slow day at the office after checking out flowers over by Yaqui Pass & walking thru mostly completed Sewanee house with Len.

On the way up we saw an airstream camping in an area like this amongst the blooming senna, but it left before we drove past going down - high today was forecasted to be about 96°F

On the 21st, mostly stayed home & did some chores such as draining pool. Kathy & Kym had lunch at the Red O. After they returned, replaced the water pump in Kym's swamper.

On the 22nd, returned to work for a moderatly busy day at the office.

Wind did a number on our back patio furniture.

On the 27th, we both took it easy at home. Jef went another round against the bees.

On the 28th, Jef walked to the office in 58 minutes - so his endurance is getting a little better. For the 1st time this year, also walked back the same way in 63 minutes.
