On the 1st, mostly took it easy at home.

On the 3rd, mostly took it easy at home.

On the 4th, drove Kathy to beach where she got to ride a "David's Chair" along the beach - we took doggies and went all the way to the jetty and back.

On the 8th, had Holly and Albert over for dinner this evening to celebrate house completion. We had steak, potatoes and brocolli with cheese.

On the 10th, mostly took it easy at home.

On the 11th, drove to Aberdeen and did some shopping. Also stopped at Carrot Thai and got some Thai food to go. Later we drove to marina area and walked the boardwalk.



After most of our hibiscus leaves were eaten, someone recommended we put out bowls of beer to counter the banana slugs

On the 12th, mostly took it easy at home.

On the 13th, went to marina and looked for boat belonging to Kym's friends, the Erin Nicole. We FOUND IT, but couldn't get down closer because puppies were being a pain and Kathy couldn't navigate this float.

On the 14th, packed up and left. We made it to TraveLodge south of Corvalis (same place we stayed on the way up) and Kathy got more yummy Punjabi food.

On the 15th, drove into CA and stayed at Bieber Motel.

On the 16th, drove all the way to Walker CA (gassing up in NV). Walker Burger, we found out was closed this day and every Tuesday, so we got burgers at store and grilled them for dinner this evening.

On the 17th, drove to Lone Pine and stayed at the "Cozy Cottage", an Air B&B. We grilled burgers for dinner.

On the 18th, drove home to Borrego. Unfortuneately followed Google directions, instead of our normal route, and had to take a detour to avoid a 7 car crash on the 10, so wound up going from Redlands to Aguanga on surface streets. Came down Montezuma after a big rain earlier in the day.


On the 19th, started catching up on paperwork.


Checked out Sewanee house and found flooding was nothing my deversion couldn't handle

On the 20th, took Kathy to Escondido for MD visit, doing shopping on the way home.

On the 21st, continued catchup after summer vacation.

On the 22nd, Jef continued catch up of paperwork.

On the 23rd, Jef drove Kathy to dentist and then continued to catch up on paperwork. Went over and had dinner at the Morgan's this evening.

On the 25th, Jef continued with catching up on bills and such after getting blood draw for physical.

On the 26th, we took doggies for walk for the first time outside our circle this afternoon.

On the 27th, took it easy at home, but did 2 laps around circle this evening.

On the 29th, took Kathy to neurologist appt this afternoon & stopped by Santee house and shopped on the way home.

On the 30th, took it easy at home. Jef started pulling out puncture vines around our circle.

On the 1st, took it easy at home. Kathy's function is continuing to decline.

On the 3rd, took it easy at home, Kathy function is getting worse.




On the 4th, Kathy decides it's time to go to the ER, so we head to Port Orchard and drop off doggies at Eric & Stacey's before heading to St. Anthony's in Gig Harbor. After x-rays and such, Kathy is admitted.

On the 5th, Jef sleeps at Port Orchard and spends the day at the hospital.

On the 6th, another day where Jef spends nite in Port Orchard and day at St. Anthony's.

On the 9th, Kathy is released from hospital, but will return after weekend for neck surgery.

On the 11th, Kathy goes to hospital and is re-admitted for surgery (C3-4 fusion and removal of bone spur in spinal cord).

On the 12th, Jef resumes routine of spending nite in Port Orchard and day at St. Anthony's.

On the 13th, Kathy is released from hospital. We pick up doggies from Stacey & Eric's house and head to Best Western motel in Gig Harbor, as we exceeded our welcome in Port Orchard with 3 previous stays in past month(the old story of fish and guests stinking after 3 days).

On the 17th, another day in Gig Harbor. This time we explored trail all the way to Civic Center (about a mile from motel).

On the 20th, another day in Gig Harbor - stopped by and watched daredevils at the skate park at the Civic Center this afternoon.

On the 21st, our last morning in Gig Harbor. We checked out and drove straight to WestPort.

On the 22nd, we walked in the marina area this afternoon where Kathy got her 2nd halibut purchase.

We met and talked to Keith, who ran the bubble making event. He told Kathy about "David's Chair", a non-profit that loaned powered wheelchairs to those who wanted to go along the beach

On the 23rd, we drove down to the beach and Kathy walked the length of the boardwalk to other parking area over a mile away.

Jef looked up a recipe for cod - this one had it back in mixture of mayo, dried tomatoes and other spices

On the 25th, Jef walked doggies to/from beach. Kathy took it easy.

On the 26th, made trip to Gig Harbor for surgical follow-up. Bought more plants at Lowes in Port Orchard, and on way back to Westport, went shopping in Aberdeen.

On the 27th, Jef planted new plants purchased in Aberdeen.



Kathy heard to plant lavender and rosemary surrounding her berry vines, which had been molested by deer, to prevent deer from eating berry leaves

On the 28th, Jef walked doggies past water stack and behind only house with address "South Baker St." - nothing is left of this street and this house must be accessed from another street.

On the 29th, got our 2nd takeout fish & chips and clam chowder from Merinos.

On the 1st, waking up at motel in Susanville, Kathy believed she had a UTI. Motel guy suggested going to ER at local hospital, so we drove there and got Kathy checked out. We returned to town to get medication at the Susanville Walmart before heading north. Between Bieber and Tulelake encountered very heavy showers for about half an hour. We spent the nite in a motel in Dorris on CA side just south of Klamath Falls, OR.

On the 2nd, drove to TraveLodge near Corvalis. Kathy got some great Punjabi food at food truck stationed at the motel.

On the 3rd, left the motel and drove north before going to the coast. OR coast had nasty traffic, but after we crossed over bridge by Astoria, had nothing be smooth sailing to Westport. We immediately picked up a batch of DVDs to watch from the library.

On the 4th, did shopping in Aberdeen, including getting a new phone for Kathy.

On the 12th, we attended the "Mustang Madness" air show at the Bremerton Airport, but as it was hot and long, didn't wait to see the 9 Mustangs fly.

On the 13th, we went on a little 2 mile walk from the house, hitting a nearby nature trail. That afternoon, Jef & Kathy drove to and visited the Rickards, the couple who married us over 19 years ago. Jim was not doing well, altho he said he was "fine". Grace was in good spirits, but her memory is not good. We then drove straight to Westport.

On the 14th, besides just hanging out at home, we did a 2+ mile walk to the beach lookout from our house.

On the 15th, we drove to the beach and had another beach day, albeit short as it was too cool and windy for Kathy.

On the 16th, yet another beach day, as weather was pretty nice, so we stayed longer.

On the 17th, we drove to town and hiked along half moon bay. Kathy got her first halibut today.

On the 22nd, another beach day where we spent over 3 hours there. We walked over 2 miles with doggies on the beach.

On the 23rd, another easy day, but did did go down to the beach again.


On the 24th, mostly took it easy at home, but did go shopping in Aberdeen.

On the 25th, early this morning, Kathy had fallen after falling asleep on the toilet and hit her head and hurt her neck & arm. Later we finished assembling enchiladas and drove to Port Orchard.

On the 26th, went to Poulsbo where kids got to encounter tide-pool creatures in the SEA Discovery Center and we had lunch. Later Jef made salsa and we went to block party in Stacey & Eric's neighborhood. Salsa fell on ground and was lost at the event.

On the 29th, mostly took it easy at home. Kathy's function is declining post-fall a few days prior,, so ordered a 4W walker for her.
