Font's Point to Borrego Mountain
approximately 8 miles, 1000' up, 1000' down
First hiked by Jef, Grace, Jim, Allen 12/23/97

Looking towards Borrego Mountain from Font's Point. Grace and Jim used their GPS to map the journey.

Here is Allen, Jim and Grace just before starting the descent.

Here they are descending from the summit.

Here is the photographer nosing in on the scene.

The trail is rather steep in places.

Here is the group about half way down the initial steep descent.
This part of the trail made us wonder about continueing. But since the dumb photographer already committed to this (he is below the cliff), ...

... the rest followed him down.

After the last part, we were past the hard stuff. Here is Jim and Allen, with Font's Point behind them.

Once down in the washes, the hike is a breeze. Here is a Borrego Aster blooming in front of our brave hikers with Font's Point rising above them.

Here is Grace exploring a baby slot canyon.

After a mile we entered the mud hill area of the Borrego Badlands.

Approaching San Felipe Wash, we tried to determine the best course to the Slot area of West Butte of Borrego Mountain.

Balloons were decorating the desert at the midpoint of our hike. Grace keeps these everytime she finds them. The rest of the journey was recorded by the other members of our group, as Jef ran out of film. More later....
