Cottonwood at spring

Main Rattlesnake Wash above spring

view from ridge that leads to spring
Hiked this only once. This is a difficult hike, but worthwhile. This picture looks down the steep ascent to command the ridge. I had a hard time believing that I had to climb up this steep hill in order to satisfy Schaad's direction which stated: "command the ridge". Commanding this ridge was the main altitude gainer, and after reaching it, the rest of the hike was fairly routine, except for climbing up wet waterfalls with crumbly rock as the only foot and handholds. Shortly after entering the spring's canyon, I spotted.....

...a cottonwood, while looking up toward the spring, which turned out to be beyond this tree.

Near this cottonwood, I found these bighorn sheep bones, sans skull.

Moving further up-canyon, beyond the tree, near the spring, looking down canyon, I had this view of the cottonwood. Villager Ridge can be seen just behind the cottonwood, which conversely can be seen from the ridge, with the same white background seen in the previous picture.

Somebody placed some boards here to provide a drinking pool, for the sheep I suppose, at the spring. This is looking down-canyon toward the cottonwood.

Here is an unusual grouping of different plants, just above the spring, in the white rocky area: an agave, nolina and a cottonwood, all in the same scene. I took a different route down, which proved challenging, in itself.
