Hellhole Canyon
to first fork: 8 miles/5 hours 1300' up/down (11/98)
to Maidenhair: 5 miles/3 hours 900' up/down
Hiked a number of times

11/98
Hike in late November 1998 attempted to get to 30' falls, but due to lack of time, and not knowing which fork to seek it in, or if I had passed it already, turned around about a quarter mile past the first fork. Going is very tough, as you can see from pictures below showing narrow canyon full of obstructive vegetation.

Someone came up to stay a while, a number of months or years earlier. They left some camping utensils, a book, t.p., and other trash.

Me and Karyn at Maidenhair Falls in HellHole Canyon
Hiked in June 1997 with Karyn. We actually encountered several hikers on this trip, and had them take our picture near the falls. Weather had not yet turned hot, and we had a pleasant hike.

Jef hovering over falls
The last tennis club hike to Maidenhair Falls featured Jef getting his feet wet at the falls. The Maidenhair ferns to the left in the photo on the right are the source of the name.
