Bow Willow Canyon
Southern Anza Borrego State Park
mom's first overnite backpack trip, June 1995

After hiking about a mile from Bow Willow Camp, we encountered water.

Lots of water. The more we hiked, the more water we found.

Here I am near the mouth of the narrow Bow Willow Canyon in the background on the left.

Plenty of flowers were left over from the spring. In the foreground, some Krameria.

Here is the tent viewed from the other side of the main creek, which is in the foreground.

Here is a closeup of mom in the tent.

Here's mom sitting on a rock overhanging a waterfall.

I hiked further upstream the next morning. Here is a major palm grove I found there.

Mom had severe problems with her feet on this trip, but she was determined to have a good time. This was a successful expedition, and we wound up having the entire canyon to ourselves. We had soup and tea cooked on our propane stove.
