ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Martha Diechler is writing a grant for Rotary. Looking at health needs for our community:
    1. Advocate for our people to use food stamps at the Farmer's Market
    2. Cooking classes
    3. Nutrition classes
    4. Find a local market that will provide the merchandise necessary to meet the needs for groceries to satisfy any requirements for the recommended diets.
    $2500 will be provided by the club & the district will match it. She also is going to try to find some monies to help the Senior Center provide meals for home bound clients.
  • There will be a Children's Theatre presentation "Elder of the Cinders" - premiering Saturday, August 3 at 7pm.
  • The Ocotillo Wells Learning Center is thriving. They are taking the kids to the pool, golf, the theater & the Boys & Girls Club. The Burnand Foundation is helping to pay for the transportation. The kids are fed each day, ranging from peanut butter sandwiches to popcorn.
  • There is still no definite location for our club to meet next year, but Andrew plans to make the decision & announce the location prior to the break.
  • Next week, the meeting will be at 7:30am at Kendalls and 8:00 the following week, also at Kendalls.
  • There will be a 2 week break at the end of August - August 21 and August 28 will be dark. The Rotary meeting will reconvene on September 4, 2013.
  • Next week, Kathy Johnson & Andrew will discuss the Borrego Days Breakfast.




THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service
  2. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
  3. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life
  4. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace thru a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
