Invocation: Laura Brecht

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. Andrew provided the plans for the Occotillo Wells Learning Center
    • Sylvana has 3 old computers that will be donated
    • Borrego Outfitters also has several computers & printers that are available to the Learning Center as well
    • Kathy Johnson will arrange for the computers to be hooked up, after she is informed they have been delivered
    • The kids are going to the Discovery Center at the Off Road Park this Friday, August 9.
  2. Borrego Days
    • Page Rowgowski is the contact person for Anza Borrego Desert Foundation
    • Kathy Johnson will discuss with the Borrego Dentists to assure Rotary can still use the usual space
    • There was a prolonged discussion about how Ineract members could assist, including a banner at the road that could also be put up in front of the Mall a few days before.
    • Tickets to the event will need to be ordered
  3. Upcoming personal events
    • Cathy Gay will be going to Kauai in a week for her daughter's wedding
    • Laura Brecht is leaving for a cruise to the Carribean with her 2 daughters
  4. Schedule
    • 1 more week at Kendall's
    • After that, Rotary will be dark for 2 weeks.
    • Andrew should have our new location by the next meeting.




THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service
  2. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
  3. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life
  4. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace thru a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
